George MacDonald, 1824-1905
MacDonald was a Scottish Christian poet, novelist and writer for children who influenced many later writers such as C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Auden and Chesterton. His best known works are At the Back of the North Wind, Phantastes and The Princess and the Goblin. Jarndyce has assembled an impressive collection of his works in first and early editions, many inscribed, manuscripts and autograph letters, photographs and books from MacDonald’s library.
