¶La Bête Humaine, 1890. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, in a plainer binding for the 'Colonial Library'. An American edition, published under the title Human Brutes, appeared in 1890. 17th in the 'Rougon-Macquart' series, this is one of Zola's most difficult titles.
