¶Anne Grant, 1755-1838, was a Glasgow-born poet who spent much of her early life in the United States. First published in 1806, this was her most successful work, and established her place among the literary elite of Scotland. It encompasses letters written to friends over a 30-year period, from various parts of the Highlands, and shows her gift for pastoral description and sensitivity toward rural Scottish life.
