¶Francis Adams, 1862-1893, poet, essayist, dramatist, journalist and novelist known for embodying the 'fin de siècle'. Child of the Age was published posthumously after Adams shot himself while experiencing complications from tuberculosis. The novel, a reworking of his earlier work Leicester: An Autobiography, explores the school days and struggles of a young orphan in Glastonbury.
