¶William Tegg, 1816-1895, was a publisher and miscellaneous writer, son of the publisher Thomas Tegg. William took over the family publishing business in 1845, specialising in reprints and educational works. 'One Hour's Reading' was published in 1877 and this copy contains the manuscript corrections, amendments & additions of the author, together with a number of pages of manuscript, loosely inserted. The spine is lettered by Tegg: 'Press'. The leading free endpaper has a manuscript list of some of the pages with corrections; the preface is crossed through and then reinstated ('stet'). There are manuscript notes on 83 pages with 9 pages of manuscript additions inserted.
