¶See Sadleir 1452, Wolff 4192 & Loeber L220 for the first edition of 1842. This 1851 edition has the same collation as the first (iv, 380). Wolff's copy of the first edition had 26 plates, despite the titlepage statement; this copy has 24 plates all exceptionally clean and retaining tissue guards. The escapades of an Irish manservant & his master in a novel 'episodic to the point of disintegration' (Sutherland).
