¶One of the polymaths of the twentieth century, Theodore Stephanides, 1896-1993, was portrayed in such great works as Prospero's Cell, My Family and Other Animals, and The Colossus of Maroussi. The poems in this volume, which was presented to the author, curator, and archivist Leslie Shepard, form a sort of island jeremiad not unlike Prospero's Cell, but more accusatory than mournful in tone.
